Department for the Blind
and Vision Impaired (DBVI):
"The
Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) is
committed to providing quality services to assist
Virginia's citizens who are blind, deafblind or vision
impaired in achieving their maximum level of employment,
education, and personal independence. The department
provides an array of specialized services to blind
Virginians of all ages to assist them in attaining the
skills, confidence and positive outlook that are
critical to independence."

The Statewide Independent Living Council
(SILC):
"An independent planning body working with the
Department of Rehabilitative Services and the Department for the
Blind and Vision Impaired to increase the impact of Independent
Living (IL) services in Virginia. The SILC is composed of
Gubernatorial appointees who represent people with significant
disabilities across the state, the interests of Centers for
Independent Living (CILs), and Independent Living programs and
services."

Virginia Board for People with Disabilities: VBPD works for
the benefit of individuals with DD (Developmental Disabilities) and
their families to identify needs and help develop policies,
programs, and services.

Virginia Department for
the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH):
"The
Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
(VDDHH) works to reduce the communication barriers
between persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and
their families and the professionals who serve them.
The foundation of all
programs at VDDHH is communication - both as a service
(through interpreters, technology and other modes) and
as a means of sharing information for public awareness
(through training and education)."
